Events, Appearances & Road Trips
Whenever we schedule a Special Event or Road Trip we'll list it here so can join us at events, or take advantage of us being in your area to set up a Workshop or Mentoring Session.
If you live in the general area through which we'll be driving and are interested in setting up a workshop or some one-on-one instruction we'd be happy to make a detour or a stop-over to work with you or your group. Give us a call or send an e-mail — we always enjoy hearing from you!

Disc range, on-site camping, Eagle-eye Qualifier, and plenty of really nice
folks, this is a great event that just keeps growing. We've had a great time

some Osage Staves, Bowdrill Kits and hopefully even a few of the Starnater
Reliant Woodsman's Knives, and we'll be doing Fire-Making demos and other
fun stuff throughout the weekend. So stop by our booth and say hi — we
look forward to seeing you there!

It's that time! The Texas Hunter-Gatherers are heading out on their Survival Outing from the 11-16 so be sure to wish them all good luck and think good thoughts that it won't be 400 degrees! (It is Texas in June after all :-)
And for those of you who have been waiting patiently since January,
we are staying an extra weekend and running to workshops that we have
not previously offered in Texas:
The Cutting Edge: Using Knives, Axes,
Hatchets & Machetes on June19
and
Shooting the Longbow on June 20
Both of these will be held at our Clifton location (about 40 minutes north of Waco), which is central to the DFW, Austin and Houston areas. If you want to come out for both, there is plenty of room to pitch a tent overnight, or if you'd rather sleep indoors there is space to throw down a sleeping pad and bag in the classroom for the night. ETAR: The Eastern Traditional Archery Rendezvous
Ski Denton
Coudersport, PA
July 22-25
We've had
a real blast at this event the past two years and have
made it part of our regular Summer Events "tour". One of
the largest Traditional-Only Archery events in the world, 'Denton' draws
shooters and their families from across the eastern half of the United States,
down from Canada, even from Europe. Eight courses with over 200 3-D targets spread
across 700 acres, over 100 traditional archery bowyers and suppliers, an Eagle
Eye Competition and seminars on many different topics — this event is "The
Show"! Eddie' evening seminar on Stalking
& Natural Camouflage was a big
hit last year, so if he does another talk at this year's event we'll be sure
to let you know. Look forward to seeing you there, and let's hope for less rain
this time around!
For directions & more information about the event, see the Archery Festivals website.

World of the Hunter-Gatherer Survival Outing
August 20-35
The culmination of the whole program, our New Jersey Hunter-Gatherers will be
heading out on their Survival Outing this week. They meet up at a location
they have never been before, choose their camp site, build their shetler and
spend the week living off the land in true Hunter-Gatherer style. Able to bring
with them only items that they made themselves during the course of the program,
this is their chance to test themselves, and discover what they really know
and what they only thought they knew!
The previous outings have been great successes and fantastic experiences for
their Tribes, and we know this one will be too. Photos will be posted after
they return!

September
Flint Ridge Knap-in
Flint Ridge Memorial Park
Brownsville, OH
September 3–5
The culmination of the big knap-in season in the east, plenty of knappers
go straight from the Letchworth event in New York State the previous weekend,
right on down to Flint Ridge. We always have a fantastic time at this event
and are very much looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones
again this time around.
This is a fun show with plenty of rock and knapping tools, an atlatl range,
as well as suppliers for all kinds of other primitive and traditional skills. (Including
one of the finest and most reasonably priced teepee makers we've ever met,
Wendell Humphrey. If you're in the market for a teepee, this is the guy
to call!) This is usually the last big event on our schedule, so be sure
and come by to say hi!
(And if you'd like to see if we can add a few days to the trip and work in some one-on-one Mentoring, or a Skills 2 You workshop for your group while we're in the area, give us a call or send an e-mail to info@practicalprimitive.com.)
