The Adirondack Pack Basket
Learn to make your own traditional Adirondack-style Pack Basket — an extremely
functional and beautiful alternative to the modern backpack or satchel!
Lightweight, comfortable and highly durable, these basket styles have been around for centuries and antique examples can be found in museums throughout the United States.
The Pack Basket you create in this workshop will not be a cheap, stapled
model like the ones so often seen for sale these days. Instead, you will weave
your basket in the traditional style, add accent colors and patterns with naturally
dyed black walnut, osage and cochineal-colored strips, reinforce your basket
bottom to hold upward of 50 lbs, and add thick durable straps that will allow
you to wear it with confidence.
The basket you take home will make you the envy of family,
friends, and passers-by!
All basket materials and tools are provided.

Bark Baskets & Containers
Bark is one of the earliest traditional basket materials, and in this
workshop you'll see why! The bark of many different trees can be used
to make beautiful and functional baskets in a fraction the time a woven
or twined basket would take. You will learn several different techniques
for making bark baskets, including single-piece baskets that don't require
any stitching at all.
Whether you need a tall thin container for a quiver, a short stocky one
for foraged greens, a broad flat basket for berries or even a seamless
container for rock boiling water, bark can provide you with a container
of virtually andy size or shape to fit your needs. You'll work on multiple
different bark basket styles that you will take home with you!
All basket materials and tools are provided.
